Baseball: Hawks win pair on Senior Day
Rockhurst combined for 24 runs and 37 hits on Senior Day in sweeping a doubleheader against Illinois Springfield Saturday at Loyola Park.
Ryan Porter collected three doubles and drove in four runs to lead the Hawks to a 13-4 win in the first game. Anthony Davis went 4-for-4 with three RBIs. Scott Bradbury posted three hits and drove in two runs. Jonathan Curtis provided three hits off the bench. Patrick Chandler and Caleb Baker added two hits apiece. Mark Sappington improved his record to 8-3 while striking out eight in six innings.
Mark Himmelberg blanked Springfield on seven hits in an 11-0 win in the second game. Bradbury led the 16-hit attack with three hits and three RBIs. He doubled home two runs in a five-run third inning. Curtis and Davis both added two hits and two RBIs. Porter, Patrick Chandler and T.J. Dailey also finished with two hits.
The Hawks (29-15, 19-11 GLVC) conclude the regular season on Sunday with a noon doubleheader against Illinois Springfield.
