Rockhurst Hosts Second Annual Business Leadership and Ethics Day
Twenty-five community and business leaders from organizations throughout the region spoke to 22 different Rockhurst University business classes throughout the day on Tuesday, April 8, as part of the University’s second annual Business Leadership and Ethics Day – an event hosted by the Helzberg School of Management.
Business professionals shared their expertise, discussed ethical dilemmas they have faced, and offered advice on making ethical decisions. Most of the speakers were Rockhurst alumni of Rockhurst University, including Jared Steinshouer, ’13 EMBA, vice president of information technology at Ticket Solutions, who spoke to an applied business statistics class.
“Today’s event is unique in that it gets students thinking about ethical scenarios they may encounter in their future career,” said Steinshouer, who spoke to students about the ethics behind data analysis and cybersecurity. “It’s unusual to get to meet so many business professionals from such a variety of industries, and learn how they find solutions to ethical issues.”
These business leaders came from areas such as business, entrepreneurship, the food industry, international business, international marketing, microeconomics, the staffing industry, insurance, and even the National Football League.
“It was fascinating to hear from different types of professionals,” said Rachel Franklin, ’16, who is majoring in economics. “It just shows how well Rockhurst is connected to the business community. As a student, it’s rare to get the chance to interact directly with so many leaders.”
