RU Students Recognized with Annual Gould Awards
Rockhurst University business students took two of the top three awards in the 2014-15 Robert L. Gould Scholastic Awards.
The awards, presented by Kansas City-based DST Systems and named after the company’s former president, recognize outstanding university students who produce papers on designated topics related to the financial services industry. The most recent competition’s topic focused on the future of financial decision-making and its impact on financial services companies. Specifically, participants were asked to forecast the impact technology and innovation could have on the financial services industry by the year 2020.
Students from five different universities, including Rockhurst, submitted papers for the 2014-15 competition. Rockhurst junior John Reichmeier took second place in the competition for his paper, titled “Technology: the Asset of the Future,” while senior Jacob Dowell took third place for his paper, “The Future of Financial Services.”
At a recent awards ceremony for the competition, Reichmeier and Dowell were awarded grants of $7,500 and $5,000, respectively.
