Softball: Hawks receive All-GLVC honors
Junior pitcher Kayla Hoyer and sophomore third baseman Alex Jacobson of the Rockhurst softball team were named to the 2012 All-Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division Softball Team.
Hoyer, who was named to the second team, was 14-14 with a 2.33 earned run average and a .245 opponent batting average. Hoyer tied for third in appearances (36) and finished fourth in innings pitched (186.1) in the GLVC. She finished the year with 109 strikeouts, 20 complete games and three shutouts.
Jacobson, a second-team selection, led the Hawks with nine home runs and a .547 slugging average. She also was among the team leaders in batting average (.299), RBIs (30), runs scored (20), total bases (75) and on-base percentage (.340). In GLVC play, Jacobson hit .288 with five doubles, eight home runs and 25 RBIs.
Rockhurst finished the season with a 20-32 overall record and a 15-21 mark in the GLVC. The Hawks were sixth in the West Division.
