Baseball: Hawks post 11-7 win over Washburn
Ryan Porter finished with three hits and three RBIs to lead Rockhurst to its eighth consecutive victory. Porter singled home a run in the first inning and added a two-run single in the eighth in the Hawks' 11-7 win over Washburn Wednesday night at Loyola Park.
The Hawks scored six runs in the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. Washburn scored four runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull within a run of the Hawks. Scott Bradbury’s fifth home run of the season gave Rockhurst a 9-7 lead in the sixth.
Bradbury, Jordan Stull, Patrick Chandler, T.J. Dailey and Anthony Davis each posted two hits. Dailey also drove in three runs. Thomas Woodard pitched the first four-plus innings to get his first win of the season. Mark Sappington retired the Ichabods in order on four pitches in the ninth.
The Hawks (27-13 and 17-9 GLVC) return to conference action on Saturday with a noon doubleheader at Quincy. Rockhurst is ranked fourth in the first NCAA Midwest Regional poll.
