Softball: Hawks post two wins over Lincoln
Kayla Hoyer held Lincoln to four hits to lead Rockhurst to a 2-0 victory over the Blue Tigers in the second game of a three-game series Tuesday at Loyola Park. Hoyer struck out six and walked one to even her season record at 11-11.
Taylor Dunker gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead with a run-scoring single in the second. Lizzy Tucker added an RBI single in the third. Tucker and Sadie Applegate led Rockhurst with two hits apiece.
Toya Nelson singled home the winning run in the seventh in RU’s 2-1 win in the first game. Amanda Tucker went 3-for-3 at the plate. Megan Holm was the winning pitcher in relief of Molly Schieber.
In the third game, Lincoln edged the Hawks 2-1. The Blue Tigers scored twice behind three hits in the third. Liz Desloge collected two of the Hawks’ five hits. Tucker had an RBI groundout in the fourth.
The Hawks (15-27, 10-16 GLVC) return to conference play on Sunday at Maryville. Saturday's games at Missouri-St. Louis were postponed due to inclement weather.
