How sweet the sound
The original drama ‘How Sweet the Sound’, by Frank Higgins, will receive its first public reading at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in Sedgwick Hall 115 on the Rockhurst University campus as part of the Rockhurst University Plays-in-Progress Workshop series.
In the play, Lottie, a homebound spinster who makes musical instruments, refuses demands by her business-minded sister to reveal and sell the secret family formula that has made their instruments unique for generations. Lottie leaves home, taking her young niece with her as a guide, and ventures out into the world for the first time to try to preserve the secret.
Following the reading, audience members are invited to discuss the play with the playwright, director and actors. The event is open to the public and free of charge. Donations will be accepted at the door and a reception follows the reading. Sedgwick Hall is located on the Rockhurst University campus, 54th Street and Troost Avenue.
