Softball: Hawks fall twice to Jewell

Rockhurst suffered a pair of 3-1 losses to William Jewell Tuesday at Loyola Park. The Hawks, 12-23 overall, take a 9-13 conference record into a Friday doubleheader at home against Quincy.
Jewell scored all of its runs in the second inning in the first game. Kayla Hoyer (9-10) allowed 12 hits in the loss. The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the first on a groundout by Alex Jacobson. Toya Nelson led Rockhurst with two hits.
In the second game, the Cardinals hit a two-run home run in the second and added a solo homer in the seventh. Natalie Johnson gave Rockhurst a 1-0 lead in the first with an RBI single. Nelson and Tiffany Murdock led the Hawks with a pair of hits.
