Golf: Hawks win team titles at Missouri Valley
The Rockhurst men’s and women’s golf teams collected the team titles at the Missouri Valley Spring Invitational Tuesday in Marshall, Mo. The men shot 592, 28 shots better than second-place Evangel. The women won by 99 shots over Central Methodist with a 671 total.
Rockhurst senior Clarke Fry was the medalist for the men with a two-round total of 139. Fry shot 67 in the first round and came back with a 72 in the final round. Tanner Buljeski was the runner-up with a 149 total. Brad Welch tied for third at 151. Dan Schaller shot 153 to finish in sixth place.
Freshman Bree Bondon led the Rockhurst women with a first-place two-round score of 164. She shot a 79 tournament-low 79 in the final round. Molly McCormack and Madison Smith tied for second at 166. Emily Gonderinger (5th), Natalie Wieckert (6th) and Casey O’Flaherty (7th) also finished in the top 10.
