Baseball: Hawks edge Jewell, 11-10
Patrick Chandler singled home the tying and winning runs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Rockhurst an 11-10 victory over William Jewell in the first game of a doubleheader Tuesday at Loyola Park. The Cardinals rallied to win the second game, 10-5.
Chandler led the Hawks with three hits and five RBIs. He tripled home a run in the first inning and hit a two-run home run in the second. T.J. Dailey went 4-for-4 at the plate with three doubles and drove in two runs. Tyler Gans, Josh Samuelson and Jordan Stull each added two hits. Josh Tols (4-1) was the winning pitcher.
In the second game, Jewell scored five runs in the ninth inning of a scheduled seven-inning game. The Hawks tied the game on a two-out home run by Scott Bradbury in the eighth inning. Bradbury finished with four hits. Chandler collected three hits and Anthony Davis posted two hits.
The Hawks (15-11 and 7-7 GLVC) host Maryville in a pair of doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday.
