Baseball: Rockhurst rallies past Bearcats
Scott Bradbury singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Rockhurst a 4-3 win over Northwest Missouri State Tuesday at Loyola Park. Derrick Jones singled with one out and advanced to second on a groundout before scoring on Bradbury’s hit.
Jones was one of five Hawks to collect two hits. He came off the bench to hit an RBI single in the seventh to cut Northwest’s lead to 3-1. Patrick Chandler, Ryan Porter, Brandon Tangney and Caleb Baker also finished with a pair of hits.
Josh Samuelson pitched three scoreless innings to improve his record to 3-0. Zach Loeffelholz pitched the first six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits with eight strikeouts.
The Hawks, 11-9 and 3-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, returns to conference play this weekend with doubleheaders at Missouri-St. Louis on Saturday and Sunday.
