When the Helzberg Center for Professional Development at Rockhurst University surveyed students in bachelor’s and master’s level business degree programs about topics they believed necessary to enhance their careers, communication skills consistently appeared among the top responses.

As a result, the Center will include Communication With Executive Presence as one of four spring workshop offerings. For more information, or to register for any of the following sessions, visit Helzberg School of Management or call 816-501-4340.

Strategic Career Management

Four three-hour sessions conducted in small groups will provide a personalized assessment of your personality traits and ideal career fit; professional consultation on your resume and other search documents; access to corporate research databases; and support in developing and implementing your career strategy. Monday and Thursday evenings, 5-8 p.m., Feb. 27, March 1, 5, 8

Communication with Executive Presence

Leaders must influence at all levels – from the board room to the shop floor to prospective clients.  With this expectation in mind, leaders must possess a wide range of communication-related competencies, techniques and tools to be effective.  Executive Presence is the ability to navigate those different environments and audiences with ease and grace – and it takes practice.  This workshop presents a model for adaptive communication specifically geared to upwardly mobile leaders who need to influence others. Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. – noon, March 3, 17, 24

Innovation and Management

Creating and sustaining innovation takes a new approach focused on facilitating the input of seemingly divergent perspectives while gaining support and advocacy for the change.  Seventy-five percent of the time, such endeavors fail to meet their objectives, and this can be directly attributed to a lack of leadership’s alignment of the human side of the innovation equation.  This course introduces and applies proven techniques for: identifying innovations, engaging stakeholders to support and work toward the change, and implementing with positive impact. Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. – noon, March 3, 17, 24

Planning, Managing and Evaluating

Leveraging information across the organization allows leaders to make holistic decisions that are effectively designed, implemented and rewarded.  This course introduces a balanced approach to organizational metrics, which provides a deeper understanding of the health of your company, and ways of making course corrections when things begin to fall out of alignment. Saturday mornings, 9 a.m. – noon, April 21, 28, May 5
