2012 Spring Career Fair

Career Connections, Rockhurst University’s annual career fair, will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 9, in the Rock Room on campus. This event is free and open to all students and alumni looking to network with potential employers. 

The event, organized by Rockhurst Career Services, typically draws students and alumni who want to gain insight on career opportunities available, from full- and part-time jobs to internships to volunteer positions. All attendees are encouraged to bring their résumés and dress professionally.

“The career fair is a great way to get in front of a number of potential employers, and gives attendees a chance to personally connect with company representatives,” said Mike Theobald, director of career services. “These representatives can connect students and alumni with positions that fit their interests and educational backgrounds. While career search engines offer a snapshot of available opportunities, you miss the personal interaction. Our career fair gives attendees a chance to make those face-to-face connections.”

Representatives from the following local, national and global companies will be in attendance: American Jazz Museum, Cerner Corporation, Commerce Bank, CrossInnovation, Department of Homeland Security, Edward Jones, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, FedEx, First Investors Corporation, Freightquote.com, Girl Scouts of the USA, Helzberg School of Management programs, Ken-A-Vision, Lanier Parking Solutions, The MacFarlane Group, Meadowbrook Insurance Group, Multi Service, Mutual of Omaha, National Catholic Reporter, Netchemia, Northwestern Mutual, PlattForm Advertising, Reece and Nichols, State Street, Stowers Institute for Medical Research, U.S. Marines, and more.

Career Services staff members are on-hand to help RU students and alumni with everything from career exploration to internship and work-study information to connections with the University’s employer partners. In addition, they provide a variety of resources to prepare you for success in your career, including interview tips, résumé, cover letter and reference list samples.
