Rockhurst University theater students will showcase original one-act plays in Theatreworks at 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, and Friday, Feb. 17, in Mabee Theater, Sedgwick Hall.
Each 10 to 15 minute one-act play included in Theatreworks gives Rockhurst student playwrights an opportunity to see their work performed before an audience. Student directors and actors benefit from this learning experience as well, allowing participants to experience firsthand the collaboration and determination required in all aspects of a theatrical production.
The evening features both serious and comedic production, offering attendees an evening full of surprises. The plays this year include “Careful What You Wish For” by Brian Talbert, “The Redemption of Mary” by Ericka Cherry, “Breaking the Pose” by Lindsey Adams and “War Games” by James Fister.
This performance contains strong language and adult subject matter. Rockhurst Players, the University’s student theater organization, sponsors Theatreworks. The event is free and open to the public. Mabee Theater is located in Sedgwick Hall on the Rockhurst University campus, 54th Street and Troost Avenue. For more information, call 816-501-4040.
