Midwest Poet Series: Mark Doty
KANSAS CITY, Mo.- Award-winning poet and author, Mark Doty will make a return appearance at this year’s 30th anniversary season of the Midwest Poets Series, 7 p.m., Jan. 31, in Mabee Theater.
Doty is the author of eight books and poems, including National Book Award winner Fire to Fire: New and Selected Poems. His 1993 collection, My Alexandria, won The Los Angeles Times Book Prize and the National Book Critics Circle Award. He is also the author of 10 full-length books of poems, including the critically acclaimed School of Arts. Doty is also the author of Dog Years, a New York Times bestseller, and five other books of prose.
Doty is the only American poet to have won Great Britain’s T.S. Eliot Prize. He is also one of only two poets to make a return to the Midwest Poets Series. He currently teaches at Rutgers in New York City.
