Men's Basketball: Rockhurst falls at Lewis
Lewis jumped out to a big lead early on the way to an 87-52 victory over Rockhurst Saturday in Romeoville, Ill. The loss dropped the Hawks to 0-4 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
The Hawks fell behind 19-4 run in the first 11 minutes before hitting their first field goal of the game. Lewis led 41-25 at halftime while holding Rockhurst to 20.0 percent shooting from the field (5 of 20). The Flyers outrebounded the Hawks, 44-24, for the game.
Junior guard Brandon McCann scored a season-high 21 points to lead the Hawks. McCann connected on seven-of-13 field goals, including a five-of-eight on 3-point shots. Sophomore forward Cooper Beckett matched his career-high of 15 points, in addition to collecting three assists and three blocks.
The Hawks made 19 of 55 field goals for 34.5 percent shooting. Lewis shot 54.0 percent on 34-of-63 shooting. The Hawks, 1-10, return home to host Missouri-St. Louis on Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
