ArtOberfest Philosophical Film Screening: "The Brothers Bloom" (2008)

Thursday, October 27, 2022 - 7:00pm
Arrupe Hall auditorium

If everything is an act, who are we really? Brothers and con artists Stephen and Bloom have perfected the art of the con, but Bloom longs for something real. One last perfect con will set them up for life, but nothing is as it seems. Falling in love has a way of ruining the best laid plans--and cons. The second film by director Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Knives Out) is a comedic neo-noir that questions what we know about life.  Matt Schmidli, M.F.A., Rockhurst Assistant Professor of Film Arts Acting, and Robert Vigliotti, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Philosophy, will introduce the film and lead a discussion following the screening.
