"This Land is My Land/Your Land"

Friday, September 2, 2022 - 5:30pm to Sunday, December 4, 2022 - 5:00pm
Greenlease Gallery

This temporary exhibition features an installation of Cynthia Daignault’s Light Atlas, Art Bridges, together with photographs of the greater Kansas City landscape taken by Kansas Citians of all ages and backgrounds.

The objective of this exhibition is to present an in-depth look at landscapes — in particular, our greater Kansas City cityscape and those across varied regions of the United States. These images provide a pathway for contemplating ways we impact or alter the landscape (for better or worse) and its resources.

By viewing this exhibition, one may discover elements of the U.S. or KC regions that may be unfamiliar, overlooked, iconic, celebrated or commonplace. Regardless of subject, all describe and define places in which we may discover subtle beauty, deepen an appreciation for the familiar, or find inspiration for stewarding the future.

The digital photographs selected to print for inclusion in this exhibition were submitted by Kansas City high school students as well as amateur and professional artists. Kansas City residents were invited to take digital images of the metro area (most were taken just with a cell phone camera) within a 27-mile radius of where they live.

Special thanks to all Kansas City artists who submitted entries for consideration of this project and to Art Bridges and the Uryasz Family Foundation and the Estelle S. and R. A. Long Ellis Foundation in support of this exhibition and the reopening of the Greenlease Gallery and Panacea Project Space.
