Thursday, May 6, 2021 - 7:00pm
Zoom Virtual Event

Join us for an online activity in which we will make analogies between assessing works of art and assessing patients. Karen Schell, DHSc, RRT-NPS, RRT-SDS, RPFT, RPSGT, AE-C, CTTS, Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center and Kristy Peterson, Director of the Center for Arts and Letters at Rockhurst University, will model interactive elements from ArtSpeaks, a program they designed for medical and healthcare professionals and students with the objective of improving whole patient care. This participatory experience will feature images of varied works of art for the purpose enhancing observation and communication skills, considering the role of empathy and emotional response, and exploring personal bias.
