John Kerrigan, Ph.D., Rockhurst University professor of English, will facilitate a live book discussion about Eddie Glaude Jr.’s biography Begin Again—James Baldwin’s America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own (2020). A New York Times Bestseller and Washington Post and Time Magazine Book of the Year for 2020, Begin Again blends biography, history, literary criticism, and memoir with incisive analysis of our current cultural moment.  This online event is presented in partnership with Rockhurst University Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Space is limited for the FREE live discussion and you must register in advance here to participate. Rockhurst English department faculty will post or share book discussion questions inspired from the live discussion following the live event.

A limited number of FREE copies of this book, generously provided by Rockhurst University’s Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are available to registered participants. Some copies are available (while supplies last) on the Rockhurst Campus in the NEW Little Free Library box in front of Arrupe Hall (5351 Forest Avenue, KCMO). Please drive up in the circle drive 24/7—the box is on the south side of the building near the sidewalk. There are also a few copies available (while supplies last) at WiseBlood Books, 300 Westport Road, open Thursdays-Sundays 12-5. Books will not be held/reserved nor will they be mailed. All is first come, first served.
