Failing a class can feel like the end of the world, especially if the semester is coming to an end. The bad news is, you are likely stuck with the F. The GOOD news is, it is not the end of the world. Here are 3 ways to recover from that failing grade.
1. Look at the big picture: Easier said than done, but try not to be too hard on yourself. Failing a class in college is more common than you think. It is okay to be overwhelmed at any point in college that a class can slip away from you. What’s important to move forward from this F, is to focus on what you learned from this unfortunate situation to ensure it will not happen again.
2. Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor ASAP: As you start setting your new goals for the next semester, the best person to help guide you is your academic advisor. Your academic advisor will lay out several options in order to help retrieve your GPA. Your advisor will also help you find all the resources to assist you academically.
3. Seriously, move forward: Earning an F can make you feel awkward or embarrassed and even doubt your ability to succeed in college. While you need to take that F seriously, do not dwell on it for long. You are in a place of education, the one goal every staff and faculty member have for all the student is, to help them succeed - however it takes. So USE YOUR RESOURCES and look for them, because they are there and you can do it!
