One of my favorite things to do on my way to and from class was listening to podcasts. As a constant learner, the shows I came back to the most always taught me about something interesting. Something to bring up in conversation, write about for a paper, or just to ruminate on during the day, these are some of the best podcasts to learn.
99% Invisible
99PI is a great walking podcast. Many episodes are around 20 minutes long and are dedicated to bringing to light things that you wouldn’t normally know about. Focusing on the design of everything around us, it’s always fascinating to see what makes up the world around us. Narrated softly and always well-researched, 99 Percent Invisible is one I recommend to everybody who’s looking for a new podcast.
This American Life
A long-running NPR radio show, This American Life has been in podcast form for years and is still fantastic. Every episode dives into documentary-style stories on average Americans with a great story. Many episodes start with a theme and continue with several stories while others take a deep dive into one story. They even have a great list of episodes to get started!
Stuff You Should Know
One of the more fun educational podcasts, SYSK has its two hosts, Josh and Chuck, research a specific topic and gush about all the cool things they learned along the way. They play incredibly well off each other and are always excited to learn what the other has too. They’ve been going since 2008, so it’s very easy to find a topic you want to learn about and just dive in.
The RockCast
We have to mention our own podcast, The RockCast, made by Rockhurst students for students, potential students, alumni, and anyone interested in life at Rockhurst. Each episode students give their advice and perspectives on everything from how to thrive at RU to the day's current events. F
