Jamison (Jami) Shipman teaches business law, corporate income tax, individual income tax and other business courses. Shipman taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Kansas School of Business in the spring of 2015 before joining the Helzberg School of Management as a full-time professor.
Shipman brings extensive practical experience to the classroom. He spent 3 years working as an accountant for Hy-Vee and BKD prior to attending law school and has practiced law since 2003. Shipman has significant experience in rendering tax advice with respect to structuring and negotiating mergers and acquisitions. He also advises public charities, private foundations, social welfare and other tax-exempt organizations on a variety of legal issues and transactions. Shipman is currently Of Counsel with the law firm Lathrop & Gage LLP.
Shipman earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and passed the certified public accountancy exam in 1997. He has a J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law and an LL.M. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law.
