Lingerfelt teaches classes in the health care, statistics, management information systems and data science areas. His prior teaching experience includes work in corporate training in the computer science and health care space, Johnson County Community College and Missouri Western University. He holds bachelor degrees from Kansas State University in Computer Science and Management Information Systems and a MBA with emphasis in Health Care Leadership from Park University.
His research interests are big data, mobile health and wearable technology. Privously Lingerfelt worked for the Cerner Corporation as a technical engagement leader where he was responsible for large-scale implementations for electronic medical records systems. He currently serves on the executive board for the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) acting as the advocacy chair. Lingefelt also serves on advisory boards for Kansas State University’s Management Information Systems program and Missouri Western’s Health Information Management (HIM) program.
