Clinical Coordinator

Communication Sciences & Disorders

Rockhurst University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Clinical Coordinator. The Clinical Coordinator position is a 12-month, full-time position, beginning July 1, 2013.  The status of this non-tenure track Clinical Faculty Position will be reviewed annually.  The Clinical Coordinator is responsible for directing, coordinating, and managing all areas of graduate and undergraduate clinical education.  These duties include scheduling all on and off campus clinical placements, supervising clinical experiences, coordinating and supervising the community hearing screening program, working with faculty and staff, completing affiliation agreements with externship sites, managing community relationships and securing new sites, teaching clinical education courses, conducting clinical site visits, and administrative duties consistent with the position. Additional clinical related duties may be required.

Excellent organizational and professional skills are required for this position.  A Master’s degree in speech-language pathology with a minimum of 5 years clinical practice is required.  The individual must hold current Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and be eligible for Missouri and Kansas state licensure.  Experience in higher education preferred. Communication Sciences & Disorders

The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at Rockhurst University is searching for a 9-month, non-tenure-track instructor of Communication Sciences and Disorders for the 2013-2014 academic year.  Candidates for the position should have a CCC-SLP.  An earned doctorate is preferred, but a strong ABD candidate will be considered.  Applicants are expected to have higher education teaching experience.  Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, mentoring students, and participating in departmental, college, and professional service.

Assistant Professor of Biology (Tenure-Track Teaching Position)

Department of Biology

The Department of Biology at Rockhurst University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in the fall of 2013. Candidates should be trained in biology and demonstrate both interest and experience in teaching and undergraduate research.  Experience teaching cadaver-based Gross Anatomy and/or Human Anatomy is strongly preferred.  Teaching responsibilities will include graduate-level Gross Anatomy and dissection lab, undergraduate-level human anatomy, and additional biology courses, depending on experience and interest.

Candidates with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree (ABD is acceptable), teaching experience, and a verifiable record of research in the biological sciences will be given priority.  Review of applications will begin November 19th, 2012.  The position will remain open until filled.

Physics Lab Manager

The Department of Mathematics and Physics at Rockhurst University invites applicants for a non tenure-track physics lab manager position to begin July15, 2013. The department has six full-time faculty members and emphasizes inquiry based laboratory experiences for our undergraduates.   A Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.   The primary responsibilities of this position will include:

  • Coordinate lab equipment/materials for all labs:  new and existing physics courses that require equipment (hardware/software + lab equipment) for interactive classes and labs
  • Assist physics faculty with set-up of equipment for use in hands-on physics lecture courses
  • Coordinate lab schedule so equipment can be used efficiently in all labs and classes
  • Teach 3 – 6 labs per semester depending on physics program needs
  • Train physics lab adjuncts
  • Develop lab curriculum to integrate labs with faculty lecture course content
  • Align physics lab content with current physics pedagogy
  • Supervise lab and shop safety:  maintenance, building and repair. 
  • Identify/purchase/stock lab equipment in common areas for access.
  • Manage student lab assistants

Chairperson: Department of Exercise and Sport Science

The Department of Exercise and Sports science is looking for a department chair to supervise approved curriculum, teach and continue development of the exercise science program. The position is a full-time, tenure-track, nine-month appointment to begin August 19, 2013.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. or equivalent in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology or related field required. Three to five years experience in an academic setting, with administrative experience, a demonstrated record of proficiency in higher education teaching, and experience in grant-writing is strongly preferred. The candidate must be able to work collegially and collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.  Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities:

Administration of program, oversee curriculum, teach exercise science courses, develop practicum sites, oversee budget, manage adjuncts, advise students, provide service to University and community, collaborate with other departments, represent Rockhurst University to external community.
