Assistant Professor in Creative Writing - Department of English

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Rockhurst University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor, emphasis Creative Writing (open genre).  Completed PhD or MFA required.  We seek an inventive, dedicated teacher who has a demonstrated interest in teaching creative writing in an undergraduate program, a commitment to teaching composition and literature in the core curriculum with the possibility of other courses as appropriate to candidate’s experience, and a desire to edit our national, annual literary journal, Rockhurst Review.  Successful candidates will have a record of publication and an active publication agenda.  Candidates should have an awareness of and interest in the educational mission of Jesuit higher education.  Teaching load is 3/3.  Position begins August 2015.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Accounting

Helzberg School of Management

The Rockhurst University Helzberg School of Management is seeking candidates for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting position beginning in August 2015.  The Helzberg School of Management is accredited through AACSB International and is the only accredited private institution in the area. 

Candidates should hold a doctorate in a related field (exceptional ABD’s considered).  Candidates with a JD and CPA will also be considered.

Candidates will have teaching experience and research interests in two or more of the following subject areas: Taxation, Auditing, Business Law, and Introductory Accounting.

Visiting Assistant Professor of Health Care Management

Helzberg School of Management

The Rockhurst University Helzberg School of Management is seeking candidates for a full- time visiting Assistant Professor of Health Care Management position beginning in August 2015.  The Helzberg School of Management is accredited through AACSB International and is the only accredited private institution in the area. 

Candidates should hold a doctorate related to health care or health care management (exceptional ABD’s considered).  This position is for two years and may be convertible to a tenure-track position.

Candidates will have teaching experience and research interests in two or more of the following subject areas:  Health Care Management, Health Care Policy, Health Care Quality Improvement, and /or Practice Management. 

This position will have the primary responsibility of teaching health care and other courses in our MBA, MA in Management and our dual DO/MBA programs.  In addition, candidates will be expected to teach in related business school fields.

Assistant Professor - Department of Education

The Department of Education is seeking a candidate for a full- time tenure track assistant professor in literacy education starting August 2014.  Candidates must have an awareness of and interest in the educational mission of Jesuit higher education.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. or Ed.D.  ABD candidates may be considered.  Teaching experience in K-12 schools and/or training and experience in the teaching of reading is required.  Post-secondary experience, working with diverse populations and with a variety of learners is preferred.  Documented evidence of scholarly work is required; the candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda.

Teaching responsibilities will include graduate and undergraduate courses such as methods of teaching literacy, content based literacy, as well as foundational courses such as research methods and foundations of education (3/3 load).  Additional responsibilities include academic advising and collaborating with faculty in such capacities as accreditation preparation and continuous improvement of the department.  A commitment to service both to the Department of Education and the Rockhurst community is expected.

Assistant Professor Position – Organic Chemistry

The Chemistry Department at Rockhurst University invites applications for tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor in the area of organic chemistry.  A Ph.D. in chemistry or a related field is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred.  Experience teaching the organic chemistry sequence at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred.  The position begins in the Fall of 2015 and includes expectations in teaching, advising, institutional service as well as the establishment of a research program capable of involving undergraduate students. The Chemistry Department offers and ACS-approved BS degree.

Visiting Assistant Professor – Political Science

The Department of Political Science is seeking a candidate for a one year visiting assistant professor position possibly renewable beginning in Fall Semester, 2015.  Teaching load is 21 hours in an academic year.  Candidate must have an awareness of and interest in the educational mission of Jesuit higher education.

The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Political Science.  Teaching experience with documented evidence of strong teaching is required.  Documented evidence of scholarly work is also required, and the candidate will be expected to pursue an active research agenda while at Rockhurst.  Teaching responsibilities will require strong academic backgrounds in the discipline subfields of American Politics, Normative Theory and Public Policy with courses at the introductory as well as upper division level in an undergraduate degree program.   Additional responsibilities will include other departmental and university service.
