Department of Education non-tenure track visiting faculty positions
Rockhurst University, a liberal arts, Catholic, Jesuit university located in Kansas City, Missouri, offers both undergraduate and graduate degrees. The Department of Education is seeking candidates for two (2) full- time non-tenure track visiting assistant professor positions beginning in August, 2012.
Candidates should hold a doctorate in education or related field. ABD candidates will be considered. Responsibilities include: teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, assessing certification portfolios, supervising student teachers and portfolio mentees, and collaborating with other faculty in such capacities as accreditation preparation and continuous improvement of the department. A commitment to service both to Rockhurst and the external community is also required.
Experience teaching in K-12 schools, post-secondary levels and working with diverse populations and with a variety of learners is preferred.
The two positions are:
- Generalist: combination of science education, educational psychology, foundations of education, and/or research methods
- Literacy Education specialist

Visiting Assistant Professor of Biology Teaching Position
The Department of Biology at Rockhurst University invites applications for a visiting assistant professor position for the fall 2012-spring 2013 academic year. Candidates should be trained in biology and demonstrate both interest and experience in teaching. Experience teaching Gross Anatomy or Human Anatomy is preferred.
Candidates with a PhD or equivalent degree (ABD is acceptable), teaching experience, and a verifiable record of research in the biological sciences are preferred. Review of applications will begin March 22, 2012. The position will remain open until filled.

Biology Lab Manager
The Department of Biology at Rockhurst University invites applicants for a non tenure-track biology lab coordinator position beginning July 2012. The department has nine full-time faculty members and emphasizes inquiry based laboratory experiences for our undergraduates. A Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred. The primary responsibilities of this position will include:
- Chemical inventory maintenance
- Attention to EPA and OSHA standards
- Biohazard , sharps, and glass disposal
- Teach three labs per semester
- Help faculty prepare for labs, especially in General Biology I and II
- Schedule repairs and maintenance for equipment
- Help manage work study students
- Help maintain a safe and effective research space for biology students and faculty
- Other duties as needed

Instructor - Non-tenure Track - Exercise and Sport Science
Rockhurst University, the Catholic Jesuit University in Kansas City, Missouri, seeks candidates for a full-time, temporary non-tenure track Instructor position in Exercise and Sport Sciences beginning in August, 2012.
Qualifications: Masters or Doctorate in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Kinesiology or equivalent preferred. ABD or Master’s considered. Evidence of some university-level teaching experience strongly preferred.
Responsibilities: Teach a variety of core exercise science classes including kinesiology, motor development and other upper level, exercise science courses; assist with program growth and development as well as academic quality; additional responsibilities as assigned. Teaching load will be 21-24 hours per year.

Faculty Position - Department of Physical Therapy Education
Rockhurst University invites applications for 3 full-time faculty positions in the Department of Physical Therapy Education’s Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. Additional faculty positions were recently approved to address expanded enrollment. Successful applicants will join a dynamic faculty in a growing program recognized for excellence within the university and the community. The program has excellent technological support in all teaching classrooms, numerous teaching laboratories, and a highly functional research laboratory housing contemporary instrumentation, including EMG, 3-D and 2-D motion analysis, body weight support treadmill system, isokinetic testing, and a wide variety of additional measurement tools. Opportunities for teaching are in professional development, orthopedics, neuromuscular and other foundational and clinical sciences as well as in the candidates’ area of expertise.
