Volleyball: Stratman named AVCA All-American
Rockhurst freshman middle hitter Kelsey Stratman received another postseason accolade on Monday as she was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American third team. She becomes the fourth player and first freshman in the program’s history to receive NCAA Division II All-American honors.
Stratman (Omaha, Neb./Skutt Catholic) leads the Great Lakes Valley Conference with 37 solo blocks. She also ranks second in blocks per set (1.30) and fifth in hitting percentage (.313) in the GLVC. She is currently 13th in all of Division II in blocks per set. She led the team in total points (441) and was second on the team in kills (328). She was a first team All-GLVC selection and the conference’s Co-Freshman of the Year.
The Hawks, 28-7, captured their first GLVC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2005.
