Women’s Soccer: Skala, Lierz earn All-Region honors
Rockhurst sophomore forward Taylor Skala has been named to the Daktronics Inc. All-Midwest Region first team, which is voted on by the region’s sports information directors. Skala was also named to the Daktronics Inc. All-Midwest Region first team in 2011.
Skala led the Hawks with 12 goals and 24 points in 21 games. Two of her goals were game-winning goals. Skala has amassed 25 goals and 54 points over the past two seasons at Rockhurst.
Joining Skala on the Daktronics Inc. All-Midwest Region first team from Rockhurst is sophomore defender Kasey Lierz. She finished the season with four goals and a conference-high 12 assists.
The first team selections will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released on Wednesday, Nov. 28, prior to the Division II national semifinals in Evans, Ga.
Rockhurst finished the season with a 14-4-3 overall record. The Hawks advanced to the semifinals in the GLVC Tournament and the second round of the NCAA Midwest Regional.
