Men’s Tennis: Gauto-Mariotti named Academic All-American
Rodolfo Gauto-MariottiRockhurst tennis player Rodolfo Gauto-Mariotti has been named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America® Division II Men’s At-Large Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Gauto-Mariotti, an economics major, earned a second team honor with a 3.98 grade point average. He helped the Rockhurst men’s tennis team finish with a team GPA of 3.61 in 2011-12.
The junior from Asuncion, Paraguay, combined for 26 victories in singles and doubles in 2012. Gauto-Mariotti finished with a 12-5 record in singles and 14-6 record in doubles. Rockhurst posted a 9-4 record in 2012 and were ranked 47th in the nation in the final ITA Division II poll.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program’s inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America honors on more than 14,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
