Mystery Novelist to Lead Special Lecture
As a dancer, choreographer and professor of theology and art, Judith Rock, Ph.D., has added yet another title to her long list of credentials – respected author. Rock draws from her unconventional background to create a series of historical mystery novels, which she’ll discuss for a special presentation at Rockhurst University.
Rock will present "The Rhetoric of Mystery: God, Jesuits and 17th Century Paris" at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, in Mabee Theater, located in Sedgwick Hall. Her first novel, The Rhetoric of Death (Berkley/Penguin, 2010), is set in the Paris Jesuit college of Louis-le-Grand; followed by her second novel, The Eloquence of Blood, which will be released on Sept. 6. The series is based on Rock’s doctoral research on the Jesuits’ use of dance in college theatres. Both novels have received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly.
