Students Learn to Speak Business at Helzberg Summer Camp
Summer camp may mean swimming and s’mores for some, but for Rockhurst University students, an innovative summer immersion camp may mean a competitive advantage in a very tight job market. TheHelzberg School of Management is launching the Mensch Management Summer Business Camp May 16-27 to teach business basics to non-business majors.
“Knowing the language of business will help graduates in any field feel more confident during job interviews,” says George Ferguson, camp director and assistant professor of management, “and this background will enable them to enter the workplace with the ability to ask the right questions.”
Camp participants will learn more about accounting, finance, marketing, ethics, leading people and working with teams through a combination of classroom work and hands-on experiences. In addition, two company visits will provide in-depth knowledge for case studies and projects.
The camp fee of $498 covers all instruction and materials, meals and lodging in Rockhurst University residence halls. The camp is open to Rockhurst juniors and seniors, and a limited number of sophomores and recent graduates may be accepted.
