Softball: Hawks split pair at Drury
Amanda Burger singled home the winning run in the ninth inning to give Rockhurst a 4-3 victory over Drury in the first game of a doubleheader Sunday in Springfield, Mo. Debbie Lewis led the Hawks with three hits and Burger added two hits. A run-scoring single by Lewis gave Rockhurst a 3-0 lead in the fifth. Alex Jacobson led off the fifth with a home run and Liz Desloge added an RBI double. Kayla Hoyer evened her record at 7-7 while holding Drury to seven hits.
Drury came back to win the second game, 1-0. The Panthers scored their run in the second inning. Toya Nelson and Jacobson finished with a pair of hits. Megan Holm went the distance as her record fell to 2-9.
The Hawks moved their winning streak to four in a row by sweeping a doubleheader at Missouri S&T Saturday in Rolla, Mo. Alex Jacobson and Lizzy Tucker combined for seven RBIs to lead the Hawks to an 8-2 win in the first game. Jacobson hit a three-run home run in the third and Tucker came back with another three-run homer in the fourth. Toya Nelson led an 11-hit attack with three hits. Jacobson, Natalie Johnson and Katelyn Bakey added two hits apiece. Kayla Hoyer went the distance to collect her sixth win of the season.
In the second game, Sadie Applegate went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs to power the Hawks to a 7-4 win over the Lady Miners. Applegate homered in the second and hit a run-scoring double in the fifth. Liz Desloge added two hits, including an RBI double in the seventh. Megan Holm posted her second victory of the season.
The Hawks, 9-18 and 7-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, play a doubleheader at Northwest Missouri State on Wednesday, March 28.
