Community Service Honor Roll
Rockhurst University prides itself on its commitment to service in the Jesuit tradition, and now it’s getting some national recognition.
For the fifth year in a row, the University has been named to the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll by the Corporation for National and Community Service. Rockhurst joins more than 450 other schools who have earned the honor this year.
“This recognition reflects the commitment of Rockhurst students, faculty and staff to service and affirms our Jesuit mission to make God’s good world better," said Julia Vargas, director for the center for service learning.
The CNCS states that this honor recognizes “the role colleges and universities play in solving community problems and placing more students on a lifelong path of civic engagement by recognizing institutions that achieve meaningful, measureable outcomes in the communities they serve.”
The Corporation for National and Community Service, along with the U.S. Departments of Education and Housing and Urban Development, sponsor the honor roll program.
