What are the minimum requirements to apply?

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a Master of Science in Nursing Degree from a CHEA recognized institution and nursing program accredited by CCNE or ACEN
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • An active nursing license in the state where they practice

How do I apply?

  • Complete your application and pay $50 application fee via College website
  • Official transcripts are required from all universities or colleges and other post-secondary educational institutions attended
  • Current resume/CV including detail of responsibilities and specific job experience
  • Three professional letters of recommendation sent directly to the admissions office:
  • Letters need to come from current or previous supervisors, prior nursing faculty, or other individuals who can address the candidate’s clinical knowledge, skill and prospective aptitude for success within a graduate program of study. Letters may not come from direct peers or family members.
  • Personal statement (400 to 800 words) addressing the following:
    • Discuss why you want to pursue an MSN degree and your specialty of choice
    • Describe how your past and/or ongoing work experience will enhance your experience in this program
    • State your goals/plans upon completion of the degree

How do I reapply?

  • Submit a new online application by the deadline
  • Submit all items not submitted previously including updated transcripts

What is the average GPA required?

A minimum GPA of at least 3.0 is required.

Do you help with clinical placements?

We are affiliated with the largest health care system in Kansas City giving your access to many clinical sites. It’s the responsibility of the student to secure clinical placements and seek approval by the program director. 

I don't reside in the Kansas City area, may I still complete your program?

MSN students who wish to complete clinical rotations in a state other than Missouri or Kansas must contact the Board of Nursing and/or Board responsible for professional requirements in the field requiring licensure in the state where they are completing their clinical rotations to learn and abide by the requirements and obtain special permission. Not all requests can be granted. Additional fees may apply.

How long is the nurse educator master's degree program?

A total of 45 credit hours is required to complete the program. The program can be completed at a part-time or full-time pace but continuous enrollment is required and it must be completed within seven calendar years.

How will I pay for my education?

Will my previous credits transfer?

  • A maximum of 12 credit hours may be transferred into the master’s degree program at Saint Luke’s College of Health Sciences
  • Courses must be equivalent to courses in the MSN tracks at Saint Luke’s College
  • Consideration of transfer credit must occur as part of the admissions process and will not be considered after a student has begun the program
  • Transfer credit will be applied to the student’s graduate academic record only after 12 hours are completed at Saint Luke’s College 
  • The student must have an earned a grade in the course of B or higher to be considered for transfer

What kind of computer do I need before I start in your program?

Below are the minimum laptop computer requirements to work with the courses at the College. Google Chromebooks will not work at the College due to download requirements. Please make sure you have access to reliable, high-speed internet.
