Today’s scientific community is in need of leaders who possess both objective knowledge and the ability to best communicate that knowledge to multiple audiences. The Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University is proud to offer a Science Leadership Certificate program that provides science professionals with competencies in project management, leadership, finance, communications and ethics.

Science Leadership Certificate: Who Should Apply?

The Science Leadership Certificate is designed for professionals who are advancing into management and leadership roles within the science community.

Program Learning Outcomes

After completing the Science Leadership Certificate program, students will be able to:

  • Present information clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Construct and evaluate project plans for science-based operations
  • Elaborate on the role of ethical standards in leadership
  • Demonstrate the ability to resolve conflict and achieve common goals
  • Define the role of marketing, intellectual property, finance and budgeting in science-based operations

With flexible evening classes that fit your schedule, the average program completion time is just 15 months. Students select a minimum of 12 credit hours from the following course list:

  • MG 6008: Managerial Communications (2 credit hours)
  • MG 6310: Organizational Behavior (2 credit hours)
  • MG Elective (2 credit hours)
  • MG 6320: Project Management (2 credit hours)
  • ACFN 6300: Financial Decision Making for Managers (2 credit hours)
  • MG 6375: Leadership (2 credit hours)

Science Leadership Program Information and Requirements

  • No GMAT or GRE scores required
  • Classes begin in January, March, June, August and October, and meet one night per week
  • The certificate requires 12 credit hours of coursework
  • Networking and career services opportunities are available to all students
