Please join us for a FREE virtual film screening and live discussion of the film Le Havre (The Haven, 2011) hosted by Robert Vigliotti, Ph.D., associate professor of philosophy. This film, in French with English subtitles, is directed by Aki Kaurismäki and features a young African refugee, Idrissa, who is discovered with a small group of other immigrants in a shipping container in the French harbor city of Le Havre. Idrissa crosses paths with Marcel Marx, a kindly older man who shines shoes for a living and changes Idrissa’s fate. Katie Madigan, Ph.D., professor of modern languages, will introduce the film and will lead an online live discussion following the screening.
