Musica Sacra Presents Mozart's "Requiem"

Musica Sacra choir
Sunday, April 28, 2019 - 7:30pm to 9:00pm
Arrupe Hall Auditorium

Vocalists Sarah Tannehill Anderson and Raymond Feener will join Musica Sacra Chorus and Orchestra for its final concert of the season — a performance of Mozart’s Requiem at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 28, in Rockhurst University’s Arrupe Hall Auditorium.

Anderson, a soprano, has performed with the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Opera Omaha, the Chicago Symphony, the Kansas City Symphony, Kansas City Chamber Orchestra, the Bach Aria Soloists, Musica Sacra and others. Feener, a baritone and the chair of the University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance’s vocal studies division, has performed in Italy, Bulgaria and the United States.

Mozart’s Requiem in D Minor remains one of the world’s most profound and popular sacred works for chorus, vocal soloists, and orchestra. Even the orchestration adds to the unique flavor of the music — rather than scoring the winds with the traditional flutes and oboes, Mozart chose basset horns, which add a darker and more somber color. The soloists and ensemble will perform Mozart’s Regina Coeli, one of three settings of the text produced by Mozart, the work was composed in 1779 for the Salzburg Cathedral.

The program will begin at 6:15 p.m. with Live Program Notes by Musical Director and Conductor Tim McDonald, Ph.D. Tickets are $22 for adults and $12 for seniors and students and are available through the Central Ticket Office, online at or at the performance.
