Midwest Poets Series: Bridget Lowe and Jenny Molberg-CANCELLED

Tuesday, March 17, 2020 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm
Arrupe Hall Auditorium

Kansas City Poets Bridget Lowe and Jenny Molberg will read from their just-released books, My Second Work (Carnegie Mellon) and Refusal (LSU). A reception follows.

Bridget Lowe’s poems have appeared widely in publications including The New Yorker, Poetry, American Poetry Review, Best American Poetry, The New Republic, Parnassus, A Public Space, and Ploughshares. She is the recipient of an Emily Dickinson Award from the Poetry Society of America, a “Discovery”/Boston Review Prize and other honors including fellowships to the Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference and the MacDowell Colony. James Longenbach writes that Lowe’s “poems love the world that does not always love them back. They’re brilliant, scary, and heartbreakingly alive.”

Jenny Molberg teaches at the University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, where she directs Pleiades Press and edits Pleiades: Literature in Context. Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in Ploughshares, Gulf Coast, The Missouri Review, Poetry International, Boulevard, Copper Nickel, The Adroit Journal, Best New Poets, and other publications. She is the recipient of a 2019-2020 Creative Writing Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. Kathryn Nuernberger writes that Molberg is “a poet in the Orphic tradition, she journeys into the Underworld to rescue her speakers […] bring[ing] them line-by-line back to the world of the living.” THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.
