Open Minds: Book Discussion—The Hate U Give

Laura Forsberg, Ph.D., Rockhurst University assistant professor of English, will facilitate a virtual book discussion about The Hate U Give, a novel by Angie Thomas (2017). The Hate U Give was Thomas’s debut novel and expanded from a short story she wrote in college in reaction to the police shooting of Oscar Grant. This online event is presented in partnership with Rockhurst University Office for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Space is limited for the FREE live discussion and you must register in advance here to participate. Join and follow the Open Minds Facebook page here after the live event to further explore topics related to the book and to post and share your ideas. Rockhurst English department faculty will post or share book discussion questions inspired from the live discussion following the live event.

A limited number of copies of The Hate U Give are available until they run out at Wise Blood Books, 300 Westport Road, Kansas City, MO, Thursday-Sundays 12-5. These books are provided by the Rockhurst University Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Wise Blood is promotional partner for Center for Arts and Letters literary events this semester. Books are available for pick-up only and are first come first served. They cannot be reserved or mailed.
