Mathapalooza 2019

High school students (grades 9-12) are invited to attend Mathapalooza 19. Students will participate in a mathematics-jumping session (a sort of speed dating for mathematics and careers in mathematics). Each student will be assigned to a group of four or five peers and will rotate through a series of mathematics activities with their group. The activities feature areas of mathematics not typically explored in the K12 classroom. Interspersed among the activities students will have the opportunity to meet professionals working in fields related to mathematics.
Event Goals
- To engage student participants in learning and applying new and interesting mathematics that they would not normally encounter in their classes.
- To broaden students' understanding of mathematics and the different types of problems mathematics can help us solve.
- To provide an opportunity for students to interact with our mathematics majors.
- To expose students to some general topics they might see and experiences they may have if they continued to study math in college.
