A Rockhurst Graduation Tradition

The Rockhurst Alumni Association is proud to host Hawk Walk 2020! All graduates, family members and friends are invited to join in on this annual graduation tradition.

The celebration begins immediately following commencement as you walk en masse from Municipal Auditorium to KC Live Block in Kansas City's famous Power and Light District.

All graduates, families and friends are invited to attend the Hawk Walk reception. Everyone will process to the KC Live Block of the Power and Light District for their official welcome to the Rockhurst Alumni Association. The procession route for graduates will be as follows:

  • Start at Municipal Auditorium on 13th Street between Central and Wyandotte Streets. Proceed east on 13th Street to Walnut Street. On Walnut, the parade will turn right (south) and proceed to the KC Live Block entrance of the Power and Light District between 13th and 14th Streets.
  • Route is approximately 1/2 mile. Rockhurst Security and volunteers will be available to ensure guests cross the street safely. Please wear comfortable shoes that are suitable for walking. 
  • Family and friends of graduates are invited to process on the parade route in the streets as well, walk down the sidewalks ahead of the parade route, or drive to the KC Live Block. Parking in garages near the KC Live Block may be available with additional costs.
  • Special transportation will be available for graduates and guests requiring assistance. A Shuttle van will be available for pickup at the corner of 13th and Central every 15 minutes immediately following the Graduation ceremony to transport passengers to the KC Live Block; shuttle reservations are not necessary.  NOTE:  Shuttle service from the KC Live Block may not be available for return to Municipal Auditorium, depending upon the length of your stay at the Hawk Walk reception; please prepare to pick up your special needs passengers at KC Live following the Hawk Walk reception.
  • Once at the KC Live Block there will be a brief program featuring members of the Young Alumni Council and Fr. Curran, followed by the traditional tossing of the graduation caps. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Reception will end at 5 p.m.
