2008-2009 Opening and Closing Dates

Fall 2008
Aug 16 (Saturday) - Residence Halls, THV and On Campus Housing open for move-in at 8:00 AM
Nov 21 (Friday) - Residence Halls close at 5:30 PM for Thanksgiving break
Nov 30 (Sunday) - Residence Halls reopen at 2:00 PM
Dec 12 (Friday) - Residence Halls close at 5:30 PM for Winter Break

Spring 2009

Jan 18 (Sunday) - Residence Halls reopen at 2:00 PM

Mar 6 (Friday) - Residence Halls close at 5:30 PM for Spring break

Mar 15 (Sunday) - Residence Halls reopen at 2:00 PM

May 13 (Wednesday) - All facilities close at 5:30 PM for non-graduates

May 14 (Thursday) - All facilities close at Noon for students with make-up exams

May 17 (Sunday) - All facilities close at Noon for graduates

Academic Break Times

* Residence Halls will be closed for Thanksgiving Break. No break housing will be offered.
* Residence Halls will be closed for Winter Break. No break housing will be offered.
* Residence Halls will be closed for Spring break (students can register in the Office of Residence Life for break housing. A Break Housing charge will be assessed to their student account. Food services will be provided.)

THV and OCH communities do not close for academic breaks. For security purposes, THV/OCH Residents staying over breaks (Fall break, Thanksgiving break, Winter break, and Spring break) must register in the Office of Residence Life.

Health and Safety inspections will be done at every closing and during scheduled Health and Safety inspections. Staff will post signs 24 hours prior to starting inspections. For more information about health and Safety inspections please contact the Office of Residence Life.

Break Housing (Academic Year)

Residents assigned to residence halls are not allowed to stay in these buildings over Thanksgiving or Christmas break and should seek alternative living arrangements. Residents halls will be open for Fall break. The halls will close for Spring break but we will offer break housing for an additional charge during that time. Residents living in Corcoran, McGee, or XL staying over Fall or Spring break must register with the Office of Residence Life.

Residents living in THV/OCH may stay over breaks but are required to register with the Office of Residence Life for security purposes prior to the beginning of each break. Please contact Brenda Laney at (816) 501-4663.

Summer School Housing
Summer housing information and applications are posted under Summer Housing. If you have questions please contact the Office of Residence Life. Only students enrolled in summer and Fall classes at Rockhurst will be allowed to live on campus during the summer term. Students who are on disciplinary probation I or II are not eligible for summer/break housing.
