How
do I make long-distance telephone calls?
Rockhurst does not provide long distance service.
It is recommended students use their cell phones
or purchase long distance calling cards.
What
if I have a maintenance concern regarding
my room or building?
Intranet electronic reporting (preferred
method as you can check on the status of
your work order at any time via computer)
using a computer on main campus (computer
labs, Rock Room, etc.)
E-mail TMA@rockhurst.edu. Include your name, your room number, your telephone number, and a detailed description of your work request.
Am
I required to have a meal plan?
Students living in our three residence halls
(McGee, X-L, Corcoran) are required to have
a meal plan. Meal points
will carry over from fall to spring semester.
Students are required to purchase meal plans
for both fall and spring semester. Unused meal
points at the end of the spring semester will
be forfeited.
How
do I add additional money to my declining
balance?
Students can go the cashier’s office
in Massman Hall to add points to their cards
at any time. Commuter students or students
living in THV are also allowed to purchase
meal points to use in all food areas on campus.
Am I permitted to
have a car on campus?
Yes. All students are allowed to have their
cars on campus. Please visit http://www.rockhurst.edu/services/security/ . All cars must be registered with Campus security.
Directions and parking regulations can be found
on the campus security website.
Can
I stay on campus during holiday breaks?
Yes we do offer Break Housing for Spring Break only. For all students living in our residential
halls there is a fee associated with staying
during breaks. Students who know they are going
to be needing housing over the breaks should
stop by the Office of Residence Life.

will my mailing address be?
Your name

You will receive your box number and mailbox combination when you
arrive on campus. If you have any questions
or problems with your mailbox, please contact the Office
of Residence Life.
How do I forward my mail if I am not returning
to campus?
Students not returning to campus at the end of the semester or academic
year need to pick up a forwarding kit from the Mail Center.
What
address should I use for deliveries?
Students will use their campus mailbox address for all mail.
To receive packages, certified mail, FedEX
packages or any other mail that requires signature
students must present valid identification to the Mail Center.
How
do I set up my voicemail?
Using your voicemail (VM) box for the first
time:
As a new user you will need to set up your Voicemail (VM) box. This includes
entering a security code, recording your name and personal greeting.

My Voicemail (VM) Box Number Is:

Call the voicemail system by dialing extension
4800, or 501-4800 if off campus.

When the system answers, press [#].

The system will prompt you to enter your
mailbox number. If you live in a single room,
your VM box number is the same as your phone
number. If you live in a double occupancy
room or in the THV units, check with your
RD or RA for the VM boxes assigned to your
phone number. Each student has his or her
own personal VM box. You may share a phone
number, but you do not share VM boxes.

The system will prompt you to enter your
security code. As a new user your security
code is 2563. This is a temporary code to
be used one time only.

The system will prompt you to enter a
new security code. Enter a 4-digit security
code (not your phone number), then press
[#].
The system will then prompt you to enter your security code again to
confirm it.

The system will now prompt you to record
your name. Listen to and follow the prompts
to record your name. The system will play
your name back to you and allow you to save
or rerecord it.
NOTE: Record only your name; this is not your personal greeting.

The system will prompt you to record a
personal greeting for your mailbox. Listen
to and follow the prompts to record your
greeting. See example below. The system will
play your greeting back to you and allow
you to save or rerecord it. Your mailbox
is now setup.
Example:
The greeting on the primary phone number VM box should be as follows:
You have reached Mary and Susan. To leave a message for Mary, press 1.
To leave a message for Susan, press 2.
The greeting on your personal VM box can be
similar to the following:
Hi, this is Mary. I can’t take your call right now. Please leave
a message.
Whom do I contact for help with my Internet
connection?
If you are having trouble connecting to the
Rockhurst network contact xHELP (x4357) or
go to the Help Desk located on the 4th floor
on Conway hall.
