Freshman Orientation Leaders

In order to be considered for an Orientation Leader within Student Life, you must complete the 'Three Step Process' including:

1. Filling out the Online Application

2. Signing up for an interview

3. Showing up for both the group and individual interviews.

WHAT IS ORIENTATION?

Orientation is a dynamic and energetic four-day program that introduces new students to Rockhurst University.  Through activities and events, new students learn about the mission of Learning, Leadership, and Service, as well as become familiar with the faces and services of Rockhurst University.

WHAT DOES AN ORIENTATION LEADER DO?

As an Orientation Leader, you are required to do the following:

*Guide a team of new students though the four-day program Work to encourage community spirit and a sense of belonging

*Make yourself available to students as a friend and resource offering information about academics and activities

*Write a letter to the incoming students on your team

*Attend a one day training in the spring and a 4 day training the week before Orientation

*Attend and be punctual to all Orientation functions

*Behave responsibly throughout Orientation and adhere to the guidelines set by Orientation Coordinators, the Director of New Students, and the Assistant Director of Student Life

WHY SHOULD I BECOME AN ORIENTATION LEADER?

Rockhurst University depends on its current students to welcome and support the new students.  They need qualified and energetic leaders to help them feel welcome. Orientation is a great way to meet the newest members of Rockhurst University and become better acquainted with your classmates and to be a part of one of the strongest “traditions” on campus.

WHAT IS REQUIRED TO BECOME AN ORIENTATION LEADER?

Maintain a cumulative 2.5 GPA

Be a second semester freshman or transfer student

Be well adjusted to college life and involved on campus

Have effective communication skills, be motivational and responsible

Fill out an Online Application Form and Attend both the group interview and individual interview

Attend the training workshops in the Spring and the Fall
