Student Insurance
2011-2012 Student Health Insurance Information
Rockhurst University has negotiated an affordable and comprehensive health care plan for our students and their dependents. The Rockhurst health insurance plan, administered by Summit America, and underwritten by United States Fire Insurance Company by Fairmont Specialty is a great way to address both routine health care needs as well as receive adequate care during periods of medical crisis.
The plan is required for all full-time undergraduate students (12 hours or more) and graduate students (9 hours or more) unless proof of current health insurance coverage is supplied to Health Services by the waiver deadline of January 27, 2012 for the spring semester. The insurance is voluntary for all other students including Accelerated Option, Executive MBA, DO/MBA, MBA/PHY, part time graduate/undergraduate, and Post-Baccalaureate students. Please check our FAQs for cost and other important information.
Please note that the plan has $50,000 limit per accident/illness, pre-existing condition limitations, and other limitations and exclusions, so secondary plans (via parents or spouse) may provide additional coverage. If you desire to purchase supplemental coverage, please contact Summit America Insurance Services or your local health insurance broker.
We are pleased to offer a voluntary Buy-up Option for students who need more coverage. Once the basic plan of $50,000 is met, the plan will pay 80% of UCR charges up to $100,000 per injury or sickness per year. Outpatient pharmacy benefit increase to $1000 maximum per policy year. Annual cost is $437 (Fall/$182, Spring & Summer/$254) For more information or to enroll in the Buy-up Option please contact Summit America at 913-327-0200 x 124.
