When calling to inquire about projects off campus, be sure to mention that you’re from Rockhurst University. COMMUNITY SERVICE, ONE TIME EVENTS
Troostwood Garden is looking for volunteers to help weed and remove bushes, remove tree limbs, and clean up the garden. If interested, please contact Mary Wright at 816-444-5788.
Green Impact Zone is hosting “Meet Me at the Bridge” to celebrate the completion of the Troost Avenue bridge over Brush Creek on Saturday, May 5 from 5-11pm. Ozanam is looking for help with the Ozanam Golf Classic on Monday, May 14. There are a variety of tasks and times that volunteers are needed. The Family Conservancy is looking for volunteers to help with their Mother’s Day Tea at their Chouteau Courts location on Tuesday, May 15 from noon-2pm. Camps for Kids is looking for a volunteer with experience with Microsoft Access to help clean up the database of an organization that is dedicated to helping disabled and disadvantaged youth. Community LINC is an organization in the Kansas City community that works to help families transition to self-sufficiency. Volunteers are needed in a variety of capacities such as Budgeter, Early Childcare, Children’s Life Skills, Tutor, Mentor, and Maintenance. Jewish Vocational Services need several volunteers to assist with teaching classes to help refugees adjust to their new surroundings and access health resources. Volunteer teachers must have a passion for helping new refugees, have cultural sensitivity, be willing to be flexible with time, schedules, and different levels of English language and available 1-2 days/week.
