“There is no greater calling than to serve your fellow men. There is no greater contribution than to help the weak. There is no greater satisfaction than to have done it well.” ~Walter Reuther
At Rockhurst, there are a variety of opportunities
to contribute your talents and efforts -- through both community service and service-learning. Rockhurst also offers a variety of campus-wide service projects.

Finucane Service Project
Sunday, August 15, 2010
Each year, the Finucane Service Project welcomes incoming students to Rockhurst and introduces them to service – an important part of Rockhurst’s mission as a Catholic and Jesuit university. The Finucane Service Project gives the campus an opportunity not only to experience service but also to celebrate the spirit of service. Named in the memory of the Rev. William Finucane, S.J., Rockhurst initiated the Finucane Service Project to honor his commitment to introducing freshmen to both service and the neighborhood around campus.
Thirty area organizations will be served during this year’s project. Participants will work with neighborhood organization near Rockhurst, make fleece blankets for sick children, clean classrooms at schools, clean the kitchen and dinging room of a local food pantry and many other projects. The Finucane Service Project is a wonderful way to build relationships through service between incoming students, the Rockhurst community, and the greater Kansas City area.
For more information on campus-wide service projects please contact Alicia Douglas, director, Community Relations and Outreach, 816.501.4306.
