The Greenlease Library uses cooperative borrowing agreements through a variety of Interlibrary Loan systems to provide materials beyond its own collection. The library utilizes OCLC, KCMLIN, MOBIUS, ARIEL, ALA and DOCLINE delivery systems to provide materials to our patrons and to fill orders from other participating libraries. The library adheres to the U.S. Copyright Act of 1976. This act also governs Interlibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan services are available only to current Rockhurst University students, staff and faculty, including those from the Research College of Nursing. Services are not available to Faculty Emeriti, Alumni, Honorary Directors, Regents, Trustees and Library Guild members. Interlibrary loans will not be processed for patrons who have overdue items or outstanding overdue fees.

Books, periodical articles and audiocassettes can be borrowed via Interlibrary Loan. Before ordering a book on Interlibrary Loan check to make sure that it is not already available from a library in the MOBIUS consortium. Only books not available in MOBIUS can be ordered on Interlibrary Loan.

Videos, dissertations, theses and other materials are usually not available through Interlibrary Loan systems. Contact Kim Cullinan, Head of Public Services, by email or phone at 816-501-4655 if you have questions about available materials.

Delivery time averages 7 days after submission of a request to the Interlibrary Loan department. Delivery time can be longer depending upon the location of a library that owns the material. The fee for photocopies of periodical articles is $.20 per page. Most books and audiocassettes are free. Orders will not be placed for patrons whose library accounts accrue $10 or more in Interlibrary Loan Fees.

Renewals of Interlibrary Loan materials must be requested before the original due date for the material. Call the Interlibrary Loan department at 816-501-4143 to request a renewal. Only one renewal is possible.

Interlibrary Loan material kept past the due date is subject to a $1.00 per day overdue fine. No additional materials may be checked out of the Greenlease Library, other MOBIUS libraries or other Interlibrary Loan libraries until the fine is paid. This policy applies to all Interlibrary Loan borrowers.

Guidelines for Interlibrary Loan help librarians make sure that in the course of requesting material for use by their patrons, that the law is not is violated. Provisions make it possible to get copies of some materials, but there are limitations. The most common limitation is when the library staff receives requests for copies of articles from the same periodical title. To adhere to accepted guidelines, the library staff will not order more than six articles from the same periodical title published within five years of the date of the request. This means that occassionally we have to temporarily "close" a title for a year because we have met the cap on the number of articles that can be ordered.

Is it a book citation or an article citation? (Read this if you're not sure!)
