Books
|
|
Books are a great source of information. Some books
offer an overview of a topic, others give in-depth information.
Many books provide a list, called a bibliography, of
additional useful resources (other books, journal articles,
videos, etc.) on the topic covered in the book. To find
books and other materials in the Rockhurst Greenlease
Library, use the online catalog.
The library has over 100,000 books available to be
checked out. This book collection is housed on the second
floor of the library.
Checkout period for books is three weeks for students
and one semester for faculty or staff. For Rockhurst
university students, faculty and staff there is no limit
on the number of books checked out at a time.

Journals, Magazines
and Newspapers
|
|
Journals, magazines and newspapers are also known as "periodicals".
See our Periodicals
Holdings List to identify if our library holds
the title you are looking for.
Titles held in print or microform are limited to library
use only and are not checked out. The newest issues
are filed alphabetically by title on shelves near the
entrance to the library. After these journals are transferred
to microfiche or bound volumes they are moved to the
basement level. They are again arranged alphabetically
by title: microfiche are filed in the orange filing
cabinets, bound volumes and microfilm are placed on
the shelves.

may not be checked out of the library.
The Reference collection includes basic sources such
as encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, almanacs, biographical
sources, bibliographies, vertical file, indexes and
abstracts and much, much more. These materials are identified
in the online catalog
with "REF." preceding the Library of Congress

Please direct all your questions regarding research
topics to the librarian at the Information desk on the
main floor of the library or call 816-501-4188.

Reserve
Materials

These materials are placed by faculty in a temporary
collection for use by their students to support the
classroom curriculum. Reserve materials are kept at
the Circulation Desk on the main floor of the library.
Reserve materials can be identified by using the Reserve
Room Search option in the Online Catalog. Search by
either faculty
name or course.
The faculty member determines the checkout period
for their items. Most reserve materials are limited
to library use only, but some may be taken overnight,
three nights or one week.
