Off Campus Access to Databases.

In the First Person

An index to diaries, letters, oral histories and personal narratives covering many subjects, all in the English language. Source formats include text, audio and video files. The sources are repositories and collections which are available free on the web, as well as some which are only available in subscription databases. Results that instruct the user to login will not be accessible since the library does not subscribe to those subscription databases.

Informe is for Spanish-speaking users, this full-text electronic reference tool is the first system to provide indexing, images and full text of popular Hispanic magazines -- not just translations. Also included is a thesaurus and interface that are uniquely designed for Spanish-speaking users.

InfoTrac Junior Edition

This periodical database is designed for students in junior high and middle school with access to a variety of indexed and full-text magazines, newspapers and reference books for information on current events, the arts, science, popular culture, health, people, government, history, sports and more.books.

JSTOR

JSTOR (short for Journal Storage) is an online archive of scholarly journals which have been digitally reproduced to provide access to the backfile of each title. Some titles go back to the 19th century. JSTOR will not include the latest 2 - 5 years of the journals for most titles, although some publishers of journals are now providing links to some recent content.

JSTOR tutorial about how to locate information. This is a Windows Media file and takes a short time to load. The tutorial lasts about 20 minutes.

Kids InfoBits

Kids InfoBits is a database developed especially for beginning researchers in Kindergarten through Grade 5. Featuring a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, the most popular search method is moving from a broad subject to a narrower topic using the subject-based topic tree.

Learning Express Library

Learning Express Library is an interactive testing database which allows the user to practice in preparation for a wide variety of tests, such as standardized education tests, vocational tests, citizenship tests and more. Tests are provided for elementary students through adults. Instant scoring is provided as well as additional feedback.

Users must create an account to access the databases of tests.

LexisNexis Academic

LexisNexis Academic offers full-text of a variety of sources in business, law, government, medicine and other related disciplines.
Information specific to medicine can be found in Medline, a government web-based database indexed in LexisNexis Academic.
Information specific to business can be found in this source list of publications. Tutorials Introducing LexisNexis Academic and Power Search are provided.

LexisNexis Primary Sources in History

LexisNexis Primary Sources offers full-text and images of primary sources in African American Studies, Presidential Studies and Women's Studies. Document types include manuscripts, autobiographies, contemporary accounts, government documents, photographs and images, case law, chronologies, speeches and statutes. Secondary source materials include encyclopedic references and scholarly articles. Searches can be done by subject term or keywords, or each collection can be browsed by document type. LexisNexis Statistical

LexisNexis Statistical is an index to thousands of statistical documents produced by the United States government, state governments, organizations, research centers, international organizations and foreign countries. Some of the statistical documents are available full-text. Included on this site is the popular Statistical Abstract of the United States. This database contains the content of the print indexes American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference Index and Index to International Statistics.

Library, Information Science and Technology Abstracts

This database indexes more than 690 periodicals, plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.

Literature Resource Center

This database includes biographical information on authors and literary criticism of author works. The content for this database is taken from the authoritative critical sets published by the Thompson Gale company, as well as literary journals. Also included is the Encyclopedia of Literature and a Literary-Historical Timeline. A complete list of sources is available. Click here for citation information for this database.

MAS Ultra-- School Edition

This database indexes articles from approximately 520 general interest, health, science and other periodicals. Many of the articles are also available full text in the database. Special documents include full text of these publications: Magill Book Reviews, approximately 140 Macmillan Press books, health and science-related pamphlets, the CIA World Factbook, and Essential Documents in American History.

MathSciNet

MathSciNet is the searchable Web database providing access to the journals Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications (from 1940 to the present). These journals provide reviews of the mathematical literature.

MLA International Bibliography

The Modern Language Association Bibliography identifies critical writings, published from 1926 to the present, on national literatures, languages, linguistics, literary theory & criticism, literary forms & genres and folklore. Approximately 75% of the works cited are scholarly journal articles. The bibliography does not include the full-text of the works cited.
