How to use library databases from your home or office.
The library provides access to databases to Rockhurst University students, faculty and staff only. If you are on campus you simply use this page to access databases. If you are at home or work off campus access is available via the Off Campus Access to Databases page. Most databases allow direct access; some require passwords. Call 816-501-4188 to inquire about access to a password protected database or Ask A Librarian.

New Databases

Provides full text digital versions of two business periodicals, Barron's Weekly and the Wall Street Journal. Coverage begins in 2008 and a new year is added each January. Current issues of these periodicals can be found in the library's print periodical collection. Read how to use the digital collection.

CQ Public Affairs Collection is a full text document and image database covers public affairs and public policy, social work, government, political science, journalism, and communications. Chronologies, case studies,bibliographies, links to websites legislative analysis, primary documents, maps, voting records are just some of the items types available.

Encyclopedia of Human Relationships is a full text encyclopedia on relationship science from Sage Publications. Results can be printed or emailed. Citations can be downloaded to RefWorks or other bibliographic management programs.

Link to database The 19th Century U.K. Periodicals: Empire Series: Travel and Anthropology, Economics, Missionary and Colonial covers a dominant factor in 19th century British history — the expansion of Empire. With titles from India, Canada, south and East Africa, Australia and New Zealand alongside British titles covering aspects of the economics, business, trade of empire along with non-mercantile side of British expansionism in the missionary movement, this section draws on the royal Geographical Society’s remarkable collections along with commonwealth National Libraries. Titles include: Capital and Labour, The Examiner, Liberty Review, The Canadian Journal, The Economist, The scribbler, The Literary Garland, Dawn: A Journal for Australian Women, Melbourne Punch, the Friend of India, The Asiatic Review and Colonial Chronicle. The 19th Century British Library Newspapers collection contains full runs of 48 newspapers specially selected by the British Library to best represent nineteenth century Britain. This new collection includes national and regional newspapers, as well as those from both established country or university towns and the new industrial powerhouses of the manufacturing Midlands, as well as Scotland, Ireland and Wales. Special attention was paid to include newspapers that helped lead particular political or social movements such as Reform, Chartism, and Home Rule. The penny papers aimed at the working and clerical classes are also present in the collection. More information can be found in the Topic Guide for this resource. Credo Reference is a collection of over 400 reference titles covering topics in the humanities, science, medicine and social sciences. The full text of these titles are available and there are links from titles to related articles in many of the library's journal databases and to books identified in the library's online catalog. Academic OneFile contains peer-reviewed, full-text articles from the world's leading journals and reference sources. Extensive coverage of the sciences, technology, medicine, the arts, theology, literature and other subjects - authoritative and comprehensive. Millions of articles available in both PDF and HTML full-text with no restrictions; updated daily.

General OneFile contains articles on a wide range of topics: business, computers, current events, economics, education, environmental issues, health care, hobbies, humanities, law, literature and art, politics, science, social science, sports, technology, and many general interest topics. Millions of full-text articles, many with images. Updated daily.

InfoTrac Collections are subject specific subset collections of articles taken from the Academic OneFile and General OneFile databases.

Health and Wellness Resource Center with Alternative Health Module delivers up-to-date reference material as well as full-text magazines, journals, and pamphlets from a wide variety of authoritative medical sources. Additionally, consumers, students, and professionals are provided with descriptions of and links to many pertinent websites, selected for their usefulness and appropriateness. This database is intended for consumers without medical backgrounds.

Health Reference Center Academic is intended for the health professional and students in the health sciences. It provides the full text and images of respected nursing, allied health and medical journals, consumer health magazines, newsletters, pamphlets, newspaper articles, topical overviews, and reference books.

Small Business Resource Center contains information on starting and running a small business, including sample business plans, how to guides, articles and websites.

Informe is for Spanish-speaking users, this full-text electronic reference tool is the first system to provide indexing, images and full text of popular Hispanic magazines -- not just translations. Also included is a thesaurus and interface that are uniquely designed for Spanish-speaking users.

Customer Newspapers contains full text articles from domestic and international newspapers.
